Early Intervention
Early Intervention Services at BRSHF are provided by a Louisiana certified educational diagnostician.
Comprehensive Developmental Assessments:
The Battelle Developmental Inventory Screening Test assesses a range of skills in children from birth to eight years of age. The skill areas evaluated are social, cognitive, communication, adaptive and motor.
Special Instruction:
If a child is experiencing a developmental delay, he or she may benefit from one-to-one interaction with a special instructor in settings that create learning/play environments. In many instances, Special Instruction is structured to increase the parents' and caregivers' skills in creating environments that enhance cognitive, language and social skill development. These services are available for children from preschool through fourth grade.
Educational Diagnostic Services:
Comprehensive evaluation of the present status of a child's academic strengths and weaknesses includes use of a battery of standardized tests combined with review of past academic performance, observation in the present educational setting, and interviews with the student, the family and the current teacher. These services are available from ages two (readiness evaluation) to twelve.
